Redcedar and yellow-cedar are an important forest resource for the First Nations who utilize these species for a wide range of traditional and cultural purposes. The reduced presence of cedar, particularly large old redcedar, due to historical harvesting levels and low success with regeneration is a serious concern of First Nations.
